# Characters and scenes

Cast your characters, save scripts and shape a scene.

Set up your cast and save your scene before generating footage.

## Characters and looks in a scene

A scene supports up to **6 characters**. The app warns above 3 because larger casts can make faces harder to keep distinct.

1. Open the intended scene.
2. Check **Cast in this scene**.
3. Select each character’s intended look.
4. Review the script and location before rendering.

Adding a character to the series doesn’t automatically cast them in every scene. Mentioning someone in dialogue doesn’t necessarily put them on screen.

Each character supports **8 looks**: one default and seven alternatives. Use looks for outfits or different states of the same character. Give characters distinct names so Coach can identify them.

Changing a reference affects future generations; it doesn’t rewrite existing footage.

### A saved look is missing

Tell [Support](/help-and-account/account-and-support.md#contact-mochi-support) the character, series and look, and whether it is missing from the library card, the series card or only the generated video. A missing saved look and the wrong outfit in a render need different checks. Don’t pay to redraw artwork just to report that a previously saved look is missing.

## Save a scene before rendering

Review **Script**, **Cast in this scene** and **Location**, then save your changes. If Mochi asks **Keep your script edits?**, choose **Save**.

Make spoken lines and speaker names clear. Add delivery notes such as “whispering” when needed. If Coach asks who speaks a line, clarify before rendering.

Saving edits doesn’t replace an existing clip. Generate a new take only when you want new footage, and review its Gem quote first.

## Manage locations

To remove a location, open **Studio → Locations → the location → ⋯ → Remove from this series**.

A series supports **12 locations**. If an unrendered scene still uses the location, detach it in that scene first. Follow any message shown for published locations.

## Get help setting or changing episode titles

For a title change the app can’t complete, send the series link, episode number and exact title through [Support](/help-and-account/account-and-support.md#contact-mochi-support). You don’t need to delete or recreate the episode.

For example: “Moonlit Harbor, Episode 2 → The Missing Letter.”
