# Content guidelines

What you can publish on Mochi: format, quality, safety, mature-content review and leaderboard eligibility.

Mochi welcomes different genres, pacing and creative voices. These guidelines are publishing requirements—not a required story formula. Buying Gems, choosing a pack or finishing an episode doesn’t guarantee publication.

## Format and quality

Mochi is built for anime, animation and clearly stylized illustrated storytelling. Live action isn’t accepted.

* **Format:** 9:16 vertical is standard.
* **Length:** aim for 60–90 seconds per assembled episode. This creative target is separate from the in-app Finish minimum of three rendered scene slots. Three approximately 15-second scenes don’t necessarily total 60 seconds, especially after trimming.
* **Language:** use English dialogue or accurate English captions for non-English dialogue.
* **Captions:** for Mochi Lab uploads with dialogue or narration, prepare a matching SRT file or use an available caption-generation option and review it. For in-app episodes, review the captions produced during Finish.

For a Mochi Lab submission outside the standard length or format, check with the team before preparing the full upload.

Before publishing, check that your story and viewing order are understandable, visuals and audio are clear, captions are readable and synchronized, and no placeholder or broken media remains. Your title, description and poster should accurately represent the work.

Packs offer creative direction; their suggested plots, beats and archetypes aren’t approval requirements.

## Use content you’re allowed to publish

Only submit work you have the right to publish and allow Mochi to host. Music, footage, characters, artwork, voices and other assets must be original, licensed or otherwise authorized.

Don’t reuse protected IP in a way that creates a clear infringement risk. Be ready to identify collaborators or licensed assets if requested. If permission is unclear, check before uploading.

## Safety standards

Mochi’s content guidelines aim to serve viewers aged **13 and older**. This audience policy isn’t an app-store rating or a statement that every series is suitable for every teen.

Romance, affection, mature themes and implied intimacy may be considered when handled responsibly. Violence and other sensitive topics are reviewed for intensity and context.

### Prohibited content

Don’t submit:

* Hate speech, promotion of discrimination or targeted harassment.
* Pornography, explicit sexual acts, graphic sexual imagery, exposed genitals or imagery primarily intended for sexual gratification.
* Fetish or kink content, including sexualized focus on body parts, clothing, objects or scenarios—even without a sexual act.
* Sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual material, or sexual content involving or sexualizing minors or minor-coded characters. This includes fictional, illustrated and AI-generated material.
* Content encouraging self-harm or suicide.
* Scams, deceptive solicitation, dangerous misinformation or instructions for serious illegal activity.
* Doxxing or exposure of private personal information.
* Blatant infringement of content you don’t have permission to use.

A content warning, adult label or artistic intent doesn’t make prohibited content acceptable. Heat packs—including **After Dark 18+**—don’t override these standards or unlock restricted generation. Providers may apply stricter limits; don’t bypass their safeguards.

## Mature content and nudity

Limited, non-graphic adult nudity may be considered **only through individual team review**, when it serves the story and isn’t gratuitous or primarily intended for sexual gratification.

* Characters must be unambiguously adults. Giving a childlike or minor-coded character an adult age doesn’t make the depiction acceptable.
* Before publication, privately provide the episode, scene timestamps, context and why the depiction is needed.
* Approved episodes containing actual nudity require **18+ access**, specific content descriptors and a warning before playback.
* Publication depends on suitable age restrictions and moderation being available for the app, version and region. If unavailable, the team may hold the episode or request a suitable revision. **A warning alone isn’t enough.**
* Posters, thumbnails, trailers, autoplay previews and promotions must not expose nudity or sexual imagery to unrestricted viewers.

Adult episodes must be hidden from underage and age-unknown viewers by default and restricted before playback, including through shared links. They must not appear in those viewers’ previews or recommendations. Acknowledging a warning doesn’t override age restrictions.

## Ratings and content warnings

Propose an audience rating for each episode and disclose sensitive content accurately. The team confirms the classification; a creator’s label isn’t an official external rating.

Use specific descriptors such as **Brief nudity**, **Sexual situations**, **Strong language**, **Violence** or **Substance use**, rather than only “NSFW.” Include the relevant scenes and timestamps.

Series maturity guidance must reflect the most mature available episode. Episode descriptors should identify what that episode contains.

## Leaderboard eligibility

**Sexual or sexually suggestive content isn’t eligible for leaderboards or leaderboard rewards**, even if it’s published or visible on a live board.

A mature theme, warning or purchased pack doesn’t override this rule. Non-sexual romance and affection remain subject to the safety standards above.

## Submission checklist

Have these ready for a Mochi Lab submission:

* Final video and accurate captions; a matching SRT file where required.
* Series title, short description and poster or thumbnail.
* Episode title and number.
* Proposed audience rating, specific content warnings and relevant timestamps.
* Private team review before publishing nudity or adult content.
* Licensing or collaborator details when requested.
* A contact route for any clarification.

A submission can be **approved**, **returned for revisions** or **not accepted**. The team may offer editorial feedback, but a specific plot or pacing formula isn’t required.

## Reports and appeals

### Report a comment, series or user

* **Comment:** open the comments, press and hold the comment or reply, then tap **Report comment**.
* **Series:** open the series details, tap the **…** menu, then **Report show**.
* **User:** open their profile, tap the **…** menu, then **Report user**.

Choose the reason or reasons, add details if needed, then tap **Submit report**. Reporting sends the concern to the team for review; it doesn't automatically remove the comment, series or account.

### Block a user

To stop seeing comments from an account, press and hold one of their comments, tap **Block user**, then confirm. Blocking hides their comments and shows from you, and yours from them. You can unblock them from their profile.

### Get help or appeal a decision

Use the available in-app reporting option or **Profile → Support**. If you already have a private conversation, keep the report there. If in-app support is inaccessible, use a [private Discord support ticket](https://discord.gg/mochitv).

Include the series or episode link and a timestamp or written description. Don’t repost harmful imagery publicly.

The team may restrict, remove or request changes to content. Only the team can decide individual submissions, ratings or appeals; a support assistant can explain the guidelines but can’t promise approval.
