Gems power creation on Mochi. Check the quote before a new render, reference image or other paid action. Standard episode finishing and reusing available footage have different costs.

This article explains what uses Gems, why video costs more, how re-renders work, and how you can earn more Gems through the Mochi community.

What are Gems?

Gems are Mochi's creation credits. They turn the different processing costs behind scripts, images, audio, and video into one balance that's easier to understand and manage.

You pay for your own generations with your Gem balance. Check your balance and the displayed Gem cost before confirming each action, and budget for the extra takes you may need.

Important: Gems cover Mochi's complete creation workflow—not access to one model or provider. The tools used at individual stages may change as Mochi improves quality, consistency, and speed.

What uses Gems?

Read the quote for the action you are about to confirm. Editing text, generating a new take and assembling an episode are different actions.

Action Current Gem cost
Render or re-render a scene 30
Draw or redraw a character; add a character look 8
Draw or redraw a location 6
Draw a poster 12
Compose or recompose the score on demand 10
Standard Finish episode, including its default score and captions 0
Optional HD finish 25
Apply a pack 0–40, depending on the pack and whether this series already owns it

Prices checked September 26, 2026. The quote shown in Mochi is the amount to review before confirming; prices and availability can change.

Trim and restoring an available earlier version reuse footage rather than buying a new render. Standard Finish can create the default score without a separate on-demand score purchase. A Sound pack supplies direction; it is not a generated music track.

What happens when I generate a video clip?

When you choose Render this scene / Re-render this scene (or Generate in some workflows), Mochi creates a new result for your scene. It doesn't select a ready-made animation from a library.

The workflow may:

  1. Read the script and prepare animation-ready scene direction.
  2. Set the visual style, composition, timing, motion, and generation parameters.
  3. Assemble character, location, line-art, and continuity references.
  4. Generate the moving video.
